Professional Development Opportunity: Take This Self-Directed Learning Module on Early Literacy Promotion

An MOC certified online learning module from the Canadian Paediatric Society and the Canadian Children’s Literacy Foundation will help health professionals counsel families about the benefits of reading, speaking, and singing with their babies and young children.

Early Literacy Promotion: The A-B-Cs for busy clinicians is a self-directed, one-hour program with practical information on how to incorporate guidance into any interaction. Designed for family physicians, paediatricians, nurses, allied health professionals, and anyone working with families with babies and young children.

There is no cost for this program. Instructions for registering are below:

  1. Go to https://pedagogy.cps.ca/#/catalog and search for the listing for the Early Literacy Promotion module. When you find it, select the green button with the price ‘$0.00’ on the right side of the page. The button will change to say ‘Added to Cart.’ Select again to be directed to the shopping cart.
  2. Add to 'Cart':  Once you are on the Module's page, select the green button with the price ‘$0.00’ at the top right of the page to add to the shopping cart, then select the button again to be directed to the shopping cart. The course is free but this step is necessary for registration.
  3. View Cart: Click the View Cart button to continue to the sign up page.
  4. Sign Up or Login: If you do not have an account with CPS' Pedagogy, select 'Sign Up' to create one. If you have a pre-existing account, log in with your credentials.
  5. Accessing the Course: Once you have created your account and logged in, select the menu icon on the top right corner of the page (three bars button). From the dropdown menu, select "My Courses". You will now be able to access the course.
