Read On Canada!/Lisons Canada! coalition initiative wins World Literacy Award

We are thrilled to announce that the Read On Canada! coalition initiative has been honoured with the World Literacy Award for Significant Contribution to Literacy in Response to the Pandemic.

We’re so proud to be part of the Read On Canada! coalition of literacy organizations and food banks from across Canada. We came together in the face of the pandemic, and have put more than 150,000 books into the hands of children through 100+ food banks this summer. We have also provided joyful, enriching reading activities online for all families to enjoy.

Like many families and professionals, we are deeply concerned about the pandemic’s devastating impact on children. Our goal is to empower and inspire all kids to keep moving forward on their reading journeys because reading is not only foundational to learning but it also brings joy and hope, even on the darkest days.

Thank you to our wonderful coalition partners, food banks across Canada, and the generous publishers and supporters that made Read On Canada! possible. And thank you to the World Literacy Foundation for this award.
